XANTHOS

With this stoneware piece fired in a wood kiln with finishing in gold leaf, I face the human emotion of fear, metaphorically and symbolically, as an exploration of the human psyche and our relationship with the external forces that sorround us. Every symbol in this work, from the horse (Xanthos was one of the two immortal horses of Achilles) to the seven heads, to the color itself, contributes in a ritualistic way to transcending our fears and achieving a greater awareness of ourselves and our inner potential.
